Bhaktapur
A day trip to Bhaktapur, 12km east, the best-preserved of the valley's three medieval royal cities, still a living town where potters work the wheel in the open square.
Traffic-calmed brick lanes make Bhaktapur easier to explore on foot than Kathmandu.
Fly to Pokhara

Flight to Pokhara, with the afternoon free by Phewa Lake before the trek begins the following day.

Drive to Nayapul, trek to Ghandruk
